These are all misleading and improperly interpreted. I go to a Catholic School and if there’s anything I’ve learned from Ms. Morris or Ms. Garcia-Ditta, it’s that God isn’t vicious enough to do something like this. I understand many of you aren’t religious but have the decency to respect those who are religious.

these made me so frustrated. the Old Testament’s main purpose is to explain the history and everything leading up to Jesus’ incarnation with occasional supercool, inspirational stuff. the people described in the Old Testament had to be given strict guidelines that applied to their culture to set everything the right way because they didn’t know any better. once there was a better, but still very flawed, understanding of what was expected of God’s people, Jesus was sent to live as the perfect example of a pure and believing person.

that gives reasoning behind all of these verses except for the one from 1 Timothy. God isn’t the speaker there, Paul is, but he has been inspired by God to write these letters to people and all that stuff. Paul may not even be the author of this letter (or others) because it’s so different from the rest of his letters. the verse after it blames eve for the fall of man when Paul was known to believe it was adam’s fault, so there. i think.

this sentence concludes my theological moment of the day.
